CALBEE TO ENTER TAIWAN, EXPANDING IN ASIA

BY WANG FANGQING, IN SHANGHAI MAJOR Japanese food company Calbee is to set up a 51:49 joint venture in Taipei with the Taiwan local food concern Wei Chuan, a subsidiary of Tingyi International, which is registered in the Cayman Islands as a Taiwan company. Taipei Calbee is expected to start operations in December, and will manufacture snacks for sale in Taiwan, starting with Calbee's popular potato chips Jagabee.
