BRUSSELS WANTS SHAREHOLDERS TO HAVE A SAY ON EXECUTIVES’ PAY

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has welcomed a proposed reform of the European Union (EU) shareholder rights directive, which would give shareholders of EU companies listed on an EU stock exchange the right to vote on their executives’ salaries.Shareholders would have to vote on the companies’ remuneration policies every three years, according to the draft rules announced by the EU internal market Commissioner Michel Barnier.
