BRUSSELS UNVEILS DETAILS OF SOUTH KOREA-EU TRADE DEAL

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE DRINKS industry could benefit strongly from a new South Korea-European Union (EU) trade agreement, the European Commission has revealed. Releasing details of this comprehensive deal, Brussels has shown how duties on a wide range of drinks products traded between the parties will vanish upon ratification of the agreement. South Korea has agreed to remove duties on European wine exports of 15%; cut tariffs on beer from 30% to 7%; Scotch from 20% to 3%; Cognac from 15% to 5%; and rum, gin and vodka from 20% to 5%.
