BRUSSELS PUSHES FOR GUARANTEED VISITORS’ EXEMPTIONS FROM FINLAND CAR TAX

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Commission will plead at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for a ruling telling Finland to guarantee that temporary visitors to the country are exempt from paying its car registration tax. Brussels claims the Finnish system breaks European Union (EU) taxation rights enshrined in EU directive 83/182/EEC.
