BRUSSELS PUBLISHES ECOLABEL TEXTILE RULES DETERRING DECA-BDE USAGE

THE EUROPEAN Commission has published reformed environmental criteria for awarding the European Union's (EU) flower ecolabel to textiles and textile products. The detailed rules had been agreed earlier this year at a March meeting of the ecolabel's regulatory committee, which represents EU member states. It agreed to effectively ban using the brominated flame retardant deca-BDE in textiles, clothing and bed mattresses carrying the label.
