BRUSSELS PROPOSES MAJOR EU VAT REFORM

THE EUROPEAN Commission has proposed reforming the European Union’s (EU) VAT system by taxing sales of goods from one EU country to another in the same was as domestic trades within individual member states. The goal is preventing fraudsters collecting VAT on trades and then moving goods to the black market without remitting this tax to governments. Under the proposed system, the final amount of VAT would always be paid to the member state of the final consumer and charged at that country’s VAT rate. ...
