BRUSSELS PLOTS NEW MOVE ON CO2 EMISSIONS TAXATION

THE NEW European Union (EU) tax Commissioner Algirdas ?emeta will next month (April) propose minimum CO2 tax rates on fuels for all EU member states, including Britain, which lacks such charges. ?emeta wants to vary minimum rates according to a fuel's CO2 intensity. Many EU countries operate CO2 taxes, and may push London to support the move.
