BRUSSELS LAUNCHES SECOND SARDINIA ILLEGAL METAL PRODUCER SUBSIDY CASE AT ECJ

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Commission has launched a second European Court of Justice (ECJ) case in six months where it is seeking the repayment of what it regards as illegal subsidies paid to metal companies in Sardinia, Italy. Last September, Brussels started an ongoing ECJ case seeking the repayment of Euro EUR25 million claimed illegal fuel oil subsidies paid to Russian-controlled Eurallumina SpA, which operates the Mediterranean island's Portoscuso aluminium plant.
