BRUSSELS GIVES MERGER CLEARANCE FOR TRONOX PLANT PURCHASE BY HUNTSMAN

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Commission has granted European Union (EU) merger clearance to for the proposed acquisition of some of USA-based Tronox's titanium dioxide plants by fellow American chemical company Huntsman. Brussels did not impose any conditions on its permission, which followed an investigation. It will see diversified chemicals company Huntsman buying Tronox's titanium dioxide manufacturing plants in the USA and the Netherlands, plus a 50% share of a titanium ore mining and titanium dioxide manufacturing joint venture in Australia.
