BRUSSELS APPROVES BIG SUBSIDY FOR CDG RAILWAY

THE EUROPEAN Commission has allowed the French government to help finance a new express railway line between Paris train station Gare de l'Est and the Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport by levying a special fee on CDG passengers, except those in transit. The charge would be imposed in 2024, one year after the planned opening of the EUR1.32 billion, 32 kilometre line. The Commission also approved French government plans to guarantee loans secured by the railway’s concession holder, a joint venture between rail operator SNCF Réseau and Aéroports de Paris. ...
