REPRESENTATIVES of energy companies, nongovernmental organisations and European parliamentarians signed yesterday in Brussels a joint declaration calling on the European Union and its member states to pass laws and budgets underpinning the construction of a 'Supergrid' by 2050. The declaration 'No Transition without Transmission' was signed during a Brussels conference 'Supergrid 2012', organised by the Friends of the Supergrid, which backs the idea of creating a cross-border electricity network linking EU member states and countries ...
