The UK House of Commons Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has accused the British government of failing to control massive fraud impacting public spending, damaging Britain’s reputation for honesty and probity. Its report, released September 8 (1) (2), assessed fraud against the UK government having risen from GBP5.5 billion (USD6.8 billion) in the two years before Covid-19 (2018/19) to GBP21 billion (USD26.2 billion) in the two years since the pandemic erupted (2020/21).
