The UK government has been accused of being “asleep at the wheel in the fight against fraud” according to the opposition Liberal Democrats party, which has secured data showing elderly (over-65s) victims are losing GBP1.2 million (USD1.45 million) daily. The party has dubbed this a “tidal wave of scams”. The data as collected via a freedom of information request the party made to Action Fraud, the UK's national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime.
