BRITAIN MUNICIPAL WASTE INCREASE

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE AMOUNT of municipal waste being handled by British local authorities is projected by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to increase by 30% from 2000 to 2020. This is exceeds the predicted average for the old 15 member EU, which is 20-25%. The EEA says 31 million tonnes will be generated this year, and 37 million tonnes in 2020, with increases being fairly steady over the next 15 years.
