BRITAIN GIVEN PERMISSION TO START GRANT AIDING CARBON CAPTURE RESEARCH

THE UK government has been given permission by the European Commission to immediately start grant aiding industrial scale carbon capture and demonstration projects for coal-fired power plants. Brussels has green-lighted publicly-funded engineering and feasibility studies for this scheme, which will enable the government to choose next year exactly where this project should be sited. The Commission said: "Carbon capture and storage...needs to be demonstrated at industrial scale.
