AS a key part of the food production supply chain, the international can manufacturing and filling industry has largely stayed open, with some exceptions, during the Covid-19 crisis, not just in developed economies, but also in key emerging markets such as the BRICS countries. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have all experienced the pandemic differently, but in all cases, their governments and their can sectors have agreed – it is important for the industry to keep operating to ensure safe and durable food supplies remain available.
