KEITH NUTHALLTHE OFFICE International des Épizooties (OIE), the world animal health organisation, has confirmed that white spot disease has been detected for the first time in Brazil, infecting Pacific white shrimp. The announcement follows investigations by the Brazilian agriculture ministry's Department of Animal Protection into three outbreaks amongst fish farms in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil.
