THE EUROPEAN Union's EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has recommended that systematic testing for antibiotic residues should be introduced for all imports of Brazilian poultry meat, products and preparations, after checks revealed that cargoes have been contaminated with restricted nitrofurans. The European Commission is expected to rubber stamp the recommendation.
