BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE RISK of bird flu entering the European Union (EU) is becoming increasingly likely, with the European Commission banning imports of live birds and untreated feathers from Turkey, after a suspected outbreak in this country straddling Europe and Asia. There had also been suspect cases amongst birds in the Danube delta of Romania, although initial EU tests did not detect evidence that dead poultry in the region had contracted avian influenza.
