TWO dishwasher detergents have been identified as the top products for helping to de-oil birds in the wake of major oil slicks. Researchers at the University of California, Davis, found the most widely favoured cleaning agent is Proctor and Gamble's "Dawn" liquid detergent, followed by Birdwash, marketed as a joint bird and dish washer detergent in New Zealand by Tergo, a local chemical producer.
