BIOFUEL SUSTAINABILITY GUIDELINES DRAFTED BY EU PRESIDENCY

BIOFUEL sustainability rules have been drafted by the European Union's (EU) current president Slovenia, which would insist biofuels used in the EU emit 35% less carbon dioxide than fossil fuels, during their production, transport and use. This demand would become tougher over time, with the Slovenians considering proposing phased-in minimum CO2 savings for biofuels of 60%.
