BC REVENUE INCREASE

MINING exploration spending in British Columbia, Canada, doubled last year, according to the province's energy and mines minister Richard Neufeldt. Roughly CDN$130 million was spent by mining companies in 2004, up from CDN$55 million in 2003 and four times the amount spent in 2001. High mineral commodity prices and a supportive provincial government that cut sales tax on equipment and loosened regulations were behind the spending surge claimed the minister.
