RESEARCHERS from the USA's University of Arizona have found that asthmatic smokers not only have a higher risk of developing asthma, if they become asthmatics, they are 12 times more likely to develop chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases such as severe emphysema and chronic bronchitis, than non-asthmatics.
