SINGAPORE’S Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) has released a revised code of professional conduct and ethics for public accountants and accounting entities, to take effect from February 1. The regulator has stressed that the standards will ensure Singapore continues to be aligned to international benchmarks.Key changes include imposing higher standards of independence for all audits and reviews of public interest entities (PIEs), large charities and large public institutions, rather than just listed and public companies as at present.
