Law enforcement authorities in South Africa, the USA and Canada have arrested 15 people in connection with transnational internet scams allegedly run by members of the Yahoo Boys, a west African gang.According to charges filed in Mississippi, US, the mass marketing frauds concerned include obtaining financial cooperation from bogus dating and social networking website exchanges; requests to re-ship goods that had actually been stolen; fraudulent cheque scams; and fake work-at-home schemes (sometimes including advanced fees); along with the hijacking of bank, ...
