THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) is to lift bans on imports of de-boned and maturated beef and veal from the Argentine provinces of Formosa, Salta, Chaco and Jujuy, after Buenos Aires successfully eradicated Foot and Mouth Disease from these regions. The ban was imposed in September 2003, but there have been no local cases for over a year.
