ARGENTINA-EU MALIC ACID AGREEMENT

ARGENTINE wine producers are likely to be given another stay of execution over their right to sell wines in the European Union (EU) containing malic acid, which is used to correct acidity and banned in EU wine production. As with the recent agreement with the USA, the European Commission wants a comprehensive wine agreement with Argentina, and has proposed giving officials from both sides until January 2007 to strike a deal, before a ban on sales of Argentine wines containing malic acid comes into force.
