BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has released a policy paper recommending future European Union (EU) actions to deter smoking, which would ramp up Europe's already tough raft of anti-tobacco rules and guidelines. 'Tobacco or Health in the European Union' proposes that national governments increase spending on anti-tobacco actions by between Euro 1 and 3 per citizen, with national tobacco control agencies being established to coordinate such programmes.
