ALCOHOL LABELLING PROPOSAL IS ON HOLD, BUT THE EU IS STILL READY TO DISCUSS DETAILS

A EUROPEAN Commission official has told just-drinks that it is not prepared to approve the self-regulation labelling proposal put forward by Europe’s alcohol industry. While the official, a Commission spokesperson for health and food safety projects, said the European Union (EU) executive was “open for further discussions”, she made it clear, in its current form, the label proposal is a non-starter.
