BY KEITH NUTHALLTECHNICAL guidelines have been released by the European Commission on how to introduce geographical positioning technology to emergency services using the pan-European 112 fire, police and ambulance number. The move comes as a July 25 deadline has passed for fixed and mobile network operators to provide caller location information to emergency service centres responding to 112 calls, albeit in a way best suited to their national organisation and within "technological possibilities."
