EU TRANSPORT GROUP OPPOSES VEHICLE WEIGHT-BASED CO2 EMISSIONS STANDARDS

The European Federation for Transport and Environment (T&E), the umbrella organisation for NGOs working to ensure environmentally responsible transport in Europe, has come out strongly against the use of weight-based CO2 emissions standards to cut CO2 emissions from cars. It says such a scheme, which has been called for by the European motor industry trade association ACEA and a number of car companies, would lead to more road deaths and higher emissions overall.
