SALES of olive oil in the United States are likely to be boosted by the decision of the Food and Drug Administration to approve in part a health claim for olive oil submitted by the North American Olive Oil Association (NAOOA). The FDA states that "Limited and not conclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating about 2 tablespoons (23 grams) of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monounsaturated fat in olive oil."
