ASH CRISIS PROMPTS HASTENING OF EUROPEAN SINGLE SKY ATM RULES

THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has backed measures helping Europe's air industry to respond to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano ash crisis, and future environmental emergencies. The council agreed to back future relevant detailed proposals from the European Commission, notably accepting the "importance of giving the highest priority to the acceleration...of full implementation of the Single European Sky".
In particular, a council communiqué agreed to back:
