OECD HITS OUT AT FRANCE AND AUSTRALIA OVER BRIBERY

THE ORGANISATION for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has castigated France and Australia for failing to prosecute local businesses bribing foreign officials since criminalising these acts in 2000 under the OECD convention of combating bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions. The OECD working group on bribery found that, despite launching 33 prosecutions, France had won only four convictions while another, the only conviction of a company, was under appeal.
