UK COURT THROWS OUT SFO BID TO REOPEN BARCLAYS CASE

The UK High Court has rejected a bid by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) to reopen a case against Barclays over a Qatari funding deal. In May the court dismissed SFO’s case that between October 1 and November 30, 2008 Barclays Bank had granted an unlawful USD3 billion loan to Qatar Holding LLC to buy shares in Barclays Plc to help prop the bank up during the financial crisis.
