INTERNATIONAL REGULATORY ROUND UP – EU SUGAR EXPORTS BOOM AFTER PRODUCTION QUOTAS FALL AWAY

BEET and cane sugar exports from the European Union (EU) boomed in 2017, the year production quotas were scrapped (on September 30), according to figures released by the European Commission. They rose by 42.9% year-on-year, up from EUR631 million in 2016 to EUR902 million in 2017. Imports declined 5.9% year-on-year to EUR1.3 billion in 2017.
