BY KEITH NUTHALLA JOINT-INITIATIVE has been launched by the World Trade Organisation and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, to help least-developed countries establish effective intellectual property rights. Those poorest countries that are WTO members have until 2006 to meet commitments from the WTO agreement on trade-related intellectual property rights, (TRIPs), but this process has been difficult and expensive.
