EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM SECTOR LEADER WOULD BACK EU WTO CASE AGAINST CHINESE OVERPRODUCTION

The leader of Europe’s aluminium industry association has signalled he might back the European Union (EU) if it launched action at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to challenge China’s alleged breaching of WTO rules over subsidies to aluminium producers.
These comments from Gerd Götz, director general of European Aluminium come after the USA has triggered a dispute at the WTO, alleging cut-priced exports from subsidised Chinese aluminium production have put American manufacturers out of business.
