EUROPEAN AIRPORTS TO FOLLOW NEW EU AIR POLLUTION CONTROLS

EUROPEAN Union (EU) airports and their users will come under pressure to reduce their pollution because of a new EU national emissions ceiling directive (NEC). It introduces the first EU-mandated quantitative national caps for member states on particulate matter. The law has been approved by the EU Council of Ministers and the European Parliament, and also tightens existing limits for other air pollutants released by the civil aviation sector, such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds.
