EU AIRPORTS TO FACE TOUGHER AIR POLLUTION LIMITS

EUROPEAN Union (EU) airports will have to prepare for tougher air pollution limits by 2030, with the European Parliament agreeing new caps on a range of pollutants. A new directive, which has been agreed with EU ministers, would impose reduction commitments on member states for sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC), ammonia (NH3), and fine particulates (less than 2.5 micrometres in diameter).
