CAMBODIA UNIONS TARGET USD177 MONTHLY MINIMUM WAGE AS ANNUAL TALKS LOOM

CAMBODIA’S Labour Advisory Council, representing the Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia (GMAC), the ministry of labour and vocational training and trade unions, is preparing to launch talks on setting the 2017 minimum wage for the country’s clothing sector. A final decision is expected in October. Some unions are keen to secure an increase to USD177 per month, up from the current USD140, but business and government negotiators do not want to declare their hand until the negotiations formally open.
