TELEPHONE FRAUDS ON THE RISE IN BRITAIN SAYS CAMPAIGN GROUP

A report by the organisation Financial Fraud Action UK (FFA UK) has claimed that GBP23.9 million was lost in the UK to phone scams this financial year (April 2013 to April 2014) – three times more than in the previous 12 months. The research, carried out on behalf of FFA UK by ICM Research, suggests that 58% of people have received suspect calls, up from 41% last summer.Typically, fraudsters call their victims pretending to be from a trusted organisation such as their bank or the police and ask for financial information or get them to transfer money. ...
