BY KEITH NUTHALLBRITISH Airways has lost its appeal against a Euro 6.8 million fine imposed by the European Commission in 1999 over its system of granting travel agents financial incentives to travel agents for selling its flights. Confirming the Commission's decision that such a system was an abuse of the dominant position enjoyed by BA in the air travel market, the European Court of Justice's Court of First Instance rejected the airline's claim that it had been victimised.
