BY MONICA DOBIEWHAT a woman eats during her pregnancy and lactation period may determine if her grandchildren will suffer from type 2 diabetes, according to a recent US study. The research published in the Journal of Physiology in Press showed that grandsons and granddaughters of female rats fed a poor diet during pregnancy and/or lactation were more likely to become obese and insulin resistant than grandchildren of females fed an adequate diet.
