BY MONICA DOBIETHE IMPACT of mad-cow disease in the United States the will cause a 10 per cent decline in American farm income in 2004, according to recent economic analysis.Estimates from Global Insight predict that farm income will be about $5.5 billion lower in 2004 than what it would have been in the absence of BSE.The bulk of the decline in income is due to lower fat cattle and feeder steer prices.The report also forecasts a whopping 75 per cent drop in beef exports in 2004, down to 630 million pounds compared with 2003 levels where exports reached 2.58 ...
