The new EU Network of Excellence MED-VET-NET will - claims the Commission - for the first time, "unite medical and veterinary expertise in the fight against zoonoses". Involving 150 scientists, it will create a virtual institute combining "European veterinary, medical and food science", sharing expensive equipment, such as that for DNA sequencing.
