ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS CONTROLS – EUROPEAN COMMISSION REPORT

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has called on national governments to devote more resources to operating the European Union's (EU) Regulation controlling the processing, use and disposal of animal by-products, such as skin, bones and cartilage, to reduce their environmental health risks. Overall, the report says EU member states have "adequate arrangements and sufficient infrastructures", but "more (capacity) is needed to guarantee" the quarantining of all animal by-products. Brussels added it needed to clarify and simplify parts of the regulation. ...
