BY KEITH NUTHALLA EUROPEAN Union (EU)-supported research project has warned that the drought parching many parts of southern Europe this summer could compound global warming by releasing additional CO2 into the atmosphere. The CarboEurope project has found that dying crops, desiccated soil and forest fires are releasing millions of tonnes of the greenhouse gas.
