ECJ UPHOLDS SODIUM CARTEL FINES

THE EUROPEAN Court of Justice's Court of First Instance has dismissed appeals by Akzo Nobel, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Roquette Frères and AVEBE against European Commission fines for participating in a worldwide sodium gluconate food additive cartel. Judges maintained the multi-million Euro fines, albeit reducing Roquette's penalty.
