EU MINISTERS APPROVE REGULATION ON CHOOSING JURISDICTIONS FOR NON-CONTRACT CASES

EUROPEAN Union (EU) ministers have taken the key vote to establish EU common rules deciding which country's courts should hear cases in non-contractual disputes involving more than one EU member state. This so-called Rome II regulation generally encourages parties to hear cases in the country where damage took place, but allows them to make other arrangements, maybe in advance of a transaction.
